Interconnect Technology Format (ITF)

Today, we are going to discuss another file which used in design setup i.e. ITF file and we will see TLU+ file in next post. Here, we go……………

 

ITF File

Interconnect Technology Format (ITF) provides detailed modelling of interconnect parasitic effects that enable designers to perform accurate parasitic extraction for timing, signal integrity, power and reliability signoff analysis.

ITF offers a flexible and innovative format to accurately model the effects of increased process variation at advanced process technologies.

All data presented in ITF file is completely technology dependent i.e. it is given by Foundry Company. 

It is supported by leading semiconductor foundries, integrated device manufacturers and EDA tool providers.

It contains information related to the cross-section profile of process and connectivity section.

It also describes the thickness and physical attributes of the conductor and dielectric layers.

The file also contains dielectric layer definition statements. The layers are defined from the topmost layer to the bottom-most layer excluding substrate.

It is used to extract the RC values from layout i.e. it is used to generate TLU+ file.
